home office

Now that we're entering already the second month of social isolation, working from home has become a norm for everyone. And while I'm used to it and have been doing it for years already, I realise that most you really aren't. It may seem like a fun way to multitask and get everything you ever wanted out of your day like working out, making lunches, doing all the house charges and working, while still in you PJ's. Trust me when I say this  - you won't have any time left for the actual work part. And while I'm super grateful for the flexibility that working from home gives me, it can also be very hard! Which is why today I want to share with you some tips on how to work from home. Cause it's time to make this month a successful work month๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Š

Create a routine

It's all about having / maintaining a  routine guys! Just follow what you normally do in the mornings to get you in the right spirit. Although sleeping till noon and working from your bed might sound fun, it's not productive in the long run. What helps set me in the right track, is waking up at 7:30 with an alarm clock, eating breakfast, getting dressed, going for a walk with Hugo and then sitting behind my laptop to start with work when I'm back home.

Get ready for the day

Not gonna lie, I didn't put on makeup or nice clothes on most days even before the whole quarantine life. Only when I had to shoots photos, go for events or meetings. Which are obviously not happening now. So what I always do is find something comfortable to wear indoors, wash my face, brush my teeth and hair and put on perfume. This helps my mind shift into day / work mode. Just don't spend the entire day in you PJ's๐Ÿ˜

Set up a work space

Create a specific space for work. It doesn't have to be a separate room, since obviously not everyone has the space to do that, so find something that will do the trick. Like a corner in your bedroom or wardrobe, a separate area in your living room or kitchen even works. If it's still a struggle with kids / pets etc, think of getting noise-canceling headphones that might help!

Something I struggled with when I first started working from home and I'm sure lots of you are facing the same problem now, is managing your time. There's lots to do at home, trust me I know๐Ÿ˜ From social media, doing the laundry, cleaning your closet, having a home spa to what not, it's hard to focus on work. And you're probably tempted to do all these things which is normal, but not very efficient when it comes to your brain functioning. What I like to do to manage my time and be more productive are these two things: Firstly, I follow the 1-minute-rule which is that if it takes less than a minute, I do it right away. Things like making my bed, answering a quick email etc. Secondly, I do time blocking, so that I set an alarm for a certain time (ex 60 min) to focus on one task without any distractions. Then take a short break to do scroll on social media etc and set another time limit for another task until everything's done.
