Barcelona is always a good idea, no matter the season or the occasion! I've been there many many times in the summer with my fam, but this time I decided to go for a little girls weekend getaway in December instead. So we packed our bags, booked flights with airBaltic, got a hotel and were ready to go🌴 We were totally lucky with the weather, which was nothing like December, because it was super sunny and +20℃ which made it even more ideal for some girls time😍

But despite the weather, there is SO MUCH to do in Barcelona, making it a perfect destination for a weekend city break! So I'll share my favorite places to visit and a list of things to do when you're in town with your girls:

Shopping

What's a girls trip without some shopping😜 Barcelona is a total shopping paradise offering everything for every taste from designer boutiques to high street brands to local markets etc. Take the day off and go to Passeig de Gracia aka the beautiful shopping street and treat yourself with some new goodies or just enjoy some window shopping, because the street is so beautiful even for a nice walk!

Best areas & sightseeing

Speaking of walking, if you're in Barcelona for the first time and want to go and explore the city or take beautiful Instagram photos😉😉 Then my absolute favorite areas are Eixample, El Gothic, El Born, Barceloneta, Poblenou and also Ciutadelle Park, which is so very beautiful for some walks and picnics.

Restaurants

If you're in the mood for some great food, Barcelona has lots to offer! Especially when you're a seafood lover like myself, then I suggest to book a table at La Barca del Salamanca for seafood dishes; Lomo Alto for all the meat lovers; Xavier Pellicer if you're a vegetarian; Nino Viejo for all the mexican foodies and Dos Palillos & Koy Shunka for the asian / japanese lovers or enjoy a daytime lunch at Marina Port Vell overlooking the boats (ps: try their desserts!!).

Hotels

Like with everything else, Barcelona has hotels for every taste and budget. I've stayed in different hotels and airbnb's in this city and they're both great! I suggest picking a place according to the district you want to stay in and choosing a place from that area - for summer time Barceloneta and Poblenou are great picks, for winter go for everything in the city center. But as to hotels and apartment concepts my favorites in Barcelona (from different price categories) are W Barcelona, Soho House, The One, Hotel Arts, Majestic, Cotton House, Yurbban, Grand Hotel Central and anything from Derby hotels or Sweet Inn.

Tapas bars

You can not go to Barcelona without having real Spanish food experience at least once! I'm a huge fan of tapas bars and there's lots to choose from in Barca! My absolute favorites are El Nacional, which is a beautiful building full of different restaurants & bars; Boca Grande, which is a great place for cocktails & tapas;  Bodega 1900 is a beautiful tapas place by Albertt Adria; Can Paixano (La Xampanyeria) is a locals favorite place; Tickets is a perfect place for seafood tapas and looks cool too and lastly, the whole El Born district is full of tapas bars if you want to just stroll around and hop into a place without booking a table😉

Huge thanks to airBaltic for flying us there!🛩
