lisbon guide short city break weekend trip

lisbon city guide

Last week we decided to ditch the suddenly-cold Estonian weather and extend our summer in Lisbon for a little 4-day city break. Cause when airBaltic decides to continue doing flights to their summer destination in fall as well, we take it as a sign and hop on the plane straight away😉

I instantly fell in love with Lisbon! All these super colorful vibrant streets, delicious food, sunny weather and lots of shopping opportunities got me hooked the very second. No wonder this Portugal destination has grown so popular over the past few years, definitely going back for a longer trip again in the future. But even being there for a short city trip this time around, we got to visit so many wonderful places I wanted to share with you as well!  Because you all know how I like to search out the best food spots etc beforehand and then test them out while I'm at the spot, so you can be sure that all these places I'm recommending have been tested and approved by me personally👌

Top things to do and areas to see in Lisbon:

1. Places:

Lisbon is called the city of 7 hills, each of which is in a different district and offers a spectacular view over the city. These four areas highlighted below all have their charm, wether it's the architecture, the amazing food places, the interesting stores and what not! Definitely recommend taking a tour with the local tuc tuc and see places up in the hills you otherwise maybe just wouldn't get to see. We took a one-hour tour in the Alfama area, which cost around 70€ and was worth every penny!
Places to visit -
  • Bairro Alto
  • Principe Real
  • Graca
  • Alfama

2. Food:

I loooooove sea food and tapas, so Lisbon was a total food heaven for me. So many cool places with delicious bites, pretty interiors and good vibe. These five places listed below are total must-visits! If you visit Jamie's or Paparrucha, book a table on the balcony during sunset - you get the most beautiful view over the city!!
Places to visit -
  • Bairro de Avillez
  • Jamie's Italian
  • La Paparrucha
  • The Decadente
  • Ponto Final

3. Shopping:

If you're interested in doing some serious shopping, Lisbon is the answer! This city offers everything from luxury boutiques and high end designers to lots of concept store and high street brands to what not. What I personally looked forward to the most was visiting all the flea markets for vintage treasures - both for my wardrobe and also for my home. I love collecting precious little things from travels, this way I'll always have a special memory attached to these things😌
Places to visit -
  • Avenida de Liberdade
  • LX Factory
  • Feira da Ladra

Have you ever been to Lisbon? How did you like this city?😊
