In today's rather shallow world where everything is based on appearance and everyone is judged on their looks, it is really difficult not to constantly compare yourself to others. This can, however, make you feel horrible about yourself and super insecure, destroying your joy and happiness, cause you're not as tall / beautiful / smart / funny / rich / talented / friendly etc as the person next to you. But you really should't compare your life, career or appearance to anyone, nobody should! So how can you stop comparing yourself to others and live a happier life?

1. Accept Yourself

Accept your flaws as well as your strengths and be confident in yourself. Also accept others around you the way they are, everybody's different and that's what makes us unique! You don't need to be liked by everybody, so don't put too much of your energy on it, just be happy with yourself and with what you do!

2. Focus On You

It's so easy to get lost in comparing other people's strengts to your weaknesses that you end up taking the focus away from the most important thing - yourself! Make sure to always live YOUR life and "mind your own business", focusing on your strengths, staying positive and being happy.

3. Don't Compete

The only person you should ever be better than is the person you were yesterday. Never compete and never compare yourself to others. Focus on your journey, on your dreams and goals, cause only this way you can really be happy and make a difference ;)

4. Be Grateful

Be thankful for everything and everyone you have in your life and always focus on the positive and on what you want, rather than what you don't. Never compare your life to others and never be jealous, cause you don't know their journey, their struggles and their story.

5. Surround Yourself With The Right People

Be with people who make you happy, who make you feel good about yourself, who make you forget your weaknesses and about comparing yourself to others. Be with people who inspire you to be a better person!
