From an early age, I've been quite an active girl, participating in many different trainings throughout the years from gymnastics to tennis to ballet to basketball to kickboxing to what not! Stretching has always been a big part of these trainings as well as warm up and exercise itself. I think it may be due to the fact that I've been taught to do so as part of the training and so the habit of stretching has stuck with me. But I know that's not the case in many people's fitness routines, where the main focus goes on the exercises rather than stretching or warming up your muscles. Quite often these parts are completely left out as I've seen many people do, especially men... You too? But it shouldn't be like that! Actually, it is good to stretch your body a little bit every single day, even if you're not working out😉

Not only does stretching work against sore muscles, it is also super important for your flexibility, range of motions and injury prevention. Regular stretching is just as important as exercise with very important health benefits, so hopefully the following 8 reasons will inspire you to make stretching part of your daily schedule, if it isn't yet😊

8 Amazing Results You Get From Stretching Every Day:

1. Better Posture

Stretching helps ensure correct posture by lengthening tight muscles that pull areas of the body away from their intended position and keeping your muscles loose. For example because we spend so much time behind the computers, many have tight chest muscles that pull the shoulders and head forward, leaving us with a hunched shoulder look. When you stretch the muscles of your lower back, chest and shoulders, it helps keep your spine in better alignment and reduce pains.

2. More Flexibility

Improving your flexibility is probably the most obvious benefit of stretching. Flexibility can improve your physical performance and so your body requires less energy to make the same movements. Researchers believe that stretching could also help with fine-muscle coordination.

3. Less Injuries

Stretching also helps decrease the risk of injuries, since it helps supply a greater nutrient supply to muscles and so speeds the recovery from muscle injuries.

4. More Energy

Often times when you feel like your tired and can't stay awake during a long day, a good stretch helps tremendously😉 During the stretching your muscles relax, your blood flow increases and that brings back the energy.

5. Better Blood

Stretching promotes blood circulation and increases blood flow to the muscles, which helps reduce post-workout soreness and shortens recovery time but also your overall health. Greater blood circulation helps promote cell growth and organ function, it may even lower your blood sugar!

6. Better Athletic Performance

If you don't stretch after your workout session, your muscles will get more and more contracted, meaning they will be less effective during exercise. Regular stretching, however, relaxes them and so enables your muscles to be more available during exercise, so that you will make the most of your sweat session.

7. Less Pain & Soreness

Stretching before and after a workout gives your muscles time to relax, so that you will move around more easily and with less pain. Increases in blood flow increase nutrient supply to the muscles and relieve soreness in muscles after workouts. But don't forget that is important to focus on mobility while stretching by doing range-of-motion exercises and soft tissue work with foam rollers!

8. Less Stress

Stress causes your muscles to contract, making you feel tense and uneasy. This can lead to having negative impact not only on your body but also on your mind. Stretching is found to have powerful stress-busting abilities. In addition to physical tensions, stretching can also help tame mental tensions as it relieves tight muscles while tricking you into feeling more relaxed. It encourages the release of endorphins, providing a sense of euphoria. Also, stretching right before bedtime will give you a much more comfortable sleeping experience😉

Do you stretch after your workouts or just in general?
