Whenever I'm travelling to a new city or some place I've never been to before, I like to do a little homework in advance and get to know the city and its areas beforehand. The same applied to Berlin. So after some reads and a bit of photo-exploring via Pinterest & Instagram, I knew that Mitte is the area to be. Now, all we had to do was to find a hotel we liked in that particular district and book ourselves a room there.

Berlin is the busiest in July, especially during Fashion Week, so finding an ideal hotel can be quite a challenge. Luckily we stumbled across Gat Point Charlie while on search and fell in love with the concept right away. With that, picking this as our station point during a busy week was decided. It was exactly what we needed for our first visit to Berlin - in the city center (literally, located in Stadtmitte aka "city center"), functional, modern and nothing overly-priced fanciness, cause we wanted to focus mainly on Fashion Week events, do some shopping and eat good food, you know😜

The hotel itself is part of Gat Rooms, a hotel chain with one hotel in Berlin, one in Lisbon and one more coming soon to Barcelona. Their philosophy is to provide high-level essential quality through stylish hotels in the city centers. Focused on minimalist design, maximum comfort and prime locations, Gat Rooms are greatly valued by trendy fast-paced travellers. No wonder! The location was superb - right in the center of the buzzing business district surrounded by all the shops and cafes, very good transport connection to everywhere and yet somehow still located on a quiet street itself without any noise coming in from the surroundings. We also really enjoyed the service from the lovely and helpful staff, who not only cleaned our room and changed our sheets, but also the pillows every day and left us little surprises in the room. So cute! The breakfast was delicious and healthy with lots of options (try their homemade cookies!) and we loved their bike-rental-service which makes moving between different parts of Berlin so convenient and so much fun😊

On the down side, the one thing we missed at Gat Point Charlie was air-conditioning. Although there was a ventilator inside the room, it still got pretty hot during the night even though we were sleeping with out windows open. There was very little light in the bathroom, so it was a bit too dark for me to put on my make-up there and I had to do it under the window inside the room instead. But that may be just my personal preference and clearly isn't an issue for men or girls who don't wear much make-up. Another thing that we realized was that there wasn't enough hangers for our clothes and not much space for them in general. Which, again, was mostly due to us being in the city for fashion week (hello, changing outfits 3 times a day🙈), so there should be enough room for clothes and luggage for "normal" travellers hehe.

In conclusion, Gat Point is a great place to stay when in Berlin, being in the center of it all and representing the city's vibe so well. And next time I'm taking a trip to Barcelona or Lisbon, I'll happily consider Gat Rooms as my home-away-from-home there as well!

    1. Hehe totally get you, Ellie! Sometimes the best vacations are at friends or at people's apartments instead of hotels, cause they make you feel more at home. That's why airbnb is so popular :)
